Motocross And Demands Of The Weather

If you’re a motocross enthusiast, you know that your plans can change at a moment’s notice based on the unpredictable weather forecast. Being an outdoor sport, motocross racing is always contingent on the weather. Track conditions can change in an instant due to accumulation of snow or rain. Many tracks this past season have had to cancel practice and racing events due to extreme weather conditions. However, when track conditions are idea for riders, the temperature may not be. Extremely hot and humid temperatures can be deadly for motocross riders. With all the required gear worn, it is important that these riders are well hydrated to avoid heat-related issues. On occasion, in really high temperatures, tracks have had to cancel practice in the interest of safety. On the flipside, riders have to be prepared in colder weather with proper riding gear including: cold weather gloves; boots; and other equipment.

Motocross events are very often rescheduled and riders are left scrambling to get enough practice time in to make the next qualifying round or national competitions. We can only hope that the opportunities to enjoy the motocross sport will not be hampered by many weather related problems this year.
